The Committee on the Selection and Tenure of Magistrate Judges has forwarded to Chief Judge Lee F. Satterfield the names of three lawyers for his consideration in selecting a nominee to the Board of Judges to fill a magistrate judge vacancy in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia created by the retirement of Magistrate Judge Andrea L. Harnett. The three lawyers are:
Diane Lepley – Ms. Lepley is in the private practice of law in the District of Columbia and specializes with an emphasis on criminal and civil litigation. Ms. Lepley has practiced extensively in the DC Superior Court and US District Court in a wide variety of cases. Ms. Lepley is the former Director and Vice President of the DC Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English/speech from the University of Illinois, Champaign, a Masters in speech communications from West Virginia University, Morgantown, and earned her law degree from George Washington University Law School. Upon graduation from law school, Ms. Lepley clerked for the Honorable Tim Murphy of the DC Superior Court.
Shelly Ava Mulkey – Ms. Mulkey is currently an Assistant Attorney General in the Child Support Services Division of the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia, where she represents the District of Columbia in child support cases, as well as mentors new attorneys and staff. She participates on the DC Superior Court Paternity & Support Subcommittee tasked with creating a centralized location to post and retrieve information about employment, education, and training opportunities in the District. At the Law Offices of Alice Paré, Ms. Mulkey represented clients in civil matters, including domestic relations and bankruptcy cases. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from Tulane University and her law degree from American University’s Washington College of Law. Following law school, Ms. Mulkey clerked for the Honorable Eric M. Johnson, Sixth Judicial Circuit of Maryland.
Adrienne Noti – Ms. Noti is currently Special Advisor to the Director of the Office of Child Support Enforcement within the US Department of Health and Human Services, where she develops and implements federal child-support policy and leads child-support initiatives. Ms. Noti served as Director of the Women and the Law Clinic at American University’s Washington College of Law, where she supervised the representation of clients in family law cases in DC Superior Court, including child support, domestic violence, custody and visitation, and abuse and neglect cases. She has practiced family law for ten years. As the family law Managing Attorney for the DC Bar Pro Bono Program, Ms. Noti coordinated the Advocacy and Justice Clinic. Ms. Noti received a Bachelor of Arts degree in women’s studies and political science from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and earned her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center. Following law school she clerked for the Honorable Carol Bagley Amon, US District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
