From classroom confrontations to cyber stalking, youth bullying is a serious concern for students and parents in DC and across the country.  This year’s Youth Law Fair – the 14th such fair – will allow students to consider the legal ramifications of bullying, through speak-out sessions and mock trials centered on the District’s Youth Bullying Prevention Act.   
According to the District of Columbia’s Office of Human Rights, nearly 32 percent of American youth are bullied and over 20 percent of children ages 10-18 are victims of cyber bullying (2012).   
As a joint effort of the DC Superior Court and DC Bar, the Youth Law Fair gives teens positive, “hands on” experiences with various aspects of the law and a better appreciation of the judicial system.  This free, fullday educational event brings high school students, lawyers, judges, and educators together to explore issues facing students in the DC area. The event includes exhibits from local and national organizations; tours of the courtrooms and holding cells; speak-out sessions; law-related career information; mock trials; lunch; and door prizes.
