S. Pamela Gray
was appointed a Magistrate Judge by Chief Judge Rufus G.
King III on April 12, 2002. She received her B.A. degree in 1977
from Montclair State College in Montclair, New Jersey, and her
Juris Doctorate in 1989 from Rutgers University School of Law in
Newark, New Jersey.
Judge Gray joined the District of Columbia Public Defender Service in 1990 as a staff attorney. From 1990 to 1998, she represented indigent District residents in the Family and Criminal Divisions of the Superior Court. Judge Gray also argued a number of appellate cases before the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. Since her appointment Judge Gray has served in the Family Court presiding over abuse and neglect matters. She is presently serving as the Family Treatment Court presiding judge. Judge Gray is the chair of the Family Treatment Court Stakeholders’ Committee, co-chair of the Family Court Panel Oversight Subcommittee, and co-chair of the Family Court Training Committee. She also serves on the Judicial Education Committee, Committee on Magistrate and Senior Judge Utilization, Family Court Hooked on Books Project and Family Court Rules Committee.
