WASHINGTON DC — The District of Columbia Courts are proud to announce another addition to their online presence: a new website with news stories relating to court services, ceremonies, events and initiatives. The launch of DCCourtsNews.gov (www.dccourtsnews.gov) is part of the Courts‟ effort to actively reach out to the public to enhance public understanding of the judicial branch.
DCCourtsNews.gov will be in an e-zine format, with news stories posted regularly, with links to photos and additional information on the Courts‟ main website. DCCourtsNews.gov features an RSS feed, a listing of recent „tweets‟ posted by the DC Courts (for those who are not on Twitter), as well as a subscription option to receive a bi-monthly email newsletter with stories from DCCourtsNews.gov.
“We are pleased to have another avenue for getting the word out to DC residents about the various services, programs and initiatives offered by the DC Courts. We take seriously our responsibility to educate the public about the justice system and to earn the public‟s trust and confidence. DCCourtsNews.gov is another way for us to communicate with the public and keep them aware of our activities,” said DC Court of Appeals Chief Judge Eric T. Washington, chair of the Joint Committee on Judicial Administration.
Other DC Courts‟ online channels include the court system‟s main website, www.dccourts.gov, which provides a range of information about the courts for the public, jurors, legal professionals and the media. In addition, the DC Courts are also currently on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
