We want a private ceremony that’s just the two of us. What do we do?

You or your future spouse can apply to self-officiate your wedding by listing that person as the officiant on your marriage license application. You do not need witnesses. You may apply for a marriage license online or apply in person at the Marriage Bureau. The Marriage Bureau accepts applications 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Marriage Bureau is located in the Moultrie Courthouse, 500 Indiana Ave., NW, Room JM 690. To self-officiate, please note both parties must come in-person to the Marriage Bureau and provide a photo ID for each party.

Your friend or family member can apply to officiate your wedding by completing this form. Please email the form to MarriageBureau [at] dcsc.gov or apply in person at the Marriage Bureau. The Marriage Bureau accepts applications 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Marriage Bureau is located in the Moultrie Courthouse, 500 Indiana Ave NW, Room JM 690.
